AS BINGEN MENDIZABAL’S MANAGER

Bingen Mendizabal (Vitoria-Gasteiz, 1962) took his first lessons at the Jesús Guridi Music School in 1969.

He has studied violin (with Albina Madinabeitia), piano, counterpoint, fugue and composition (with Carmelo Bernaola). In addition, he has taken specialisation courses in contemporary music composition (with Gabriel Brencic), electroacoustic music (with Luis de Pablo) and film music (with Antón García Abril).

Mendizabal has worked with a broad range of musicians and bands, including Mikel Urdangarin, Hertzainak, La Polla Records and Gorka Knörr, among others, as well as theatre companies like Geroa or Teatro Paraíso. He has also composed music for concerts, video installations, opening events and exhibitions of various kinds.

Bingen has been in the film industry since 1989, making music for directors in the Basque Country and in Spain – Juanma Bajo Ulloa, Enrique Urbizu, Montxo Armendáriz, Imanol Uribe, Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón, Mariano Barroso, Manuel Gómez Pereira –, as well as for international filmmakers – Marcelo Piñeyro, Julien Temple, Betty Kaplan and Francisco Lombardi.

Mendizabal was nominated for the Goya Award for Best Soundtrack for The Hanged Man (Manuel Gómez Pereira, 2008), and received awards for his music from Círculo de Escritores Cinematográficos (La madre muerta, Juanma Bajo Ulloa, 1993), Monte-Carlo Film Festival (Cosas que hacen que la vida valga la pena, Manuel Gómez Pereira, 2004) and Málaga Film Festival (Arriya, Alberto Gorritiberea, 2011).
